Sorry for the overruse of exclamation marks today but... Boris Johnson has won the London mayoralty race! This matters not for their politics, of which I am woefully lacking in knowledge to comment on but rather the beautiful symmetry of such a foppish, upper-class Rah beating a socialist radical Islam sympathiser.

From the mouth of Boris... "If you vote for the conservatives, your wife will get bigger breasts, and your chances of driving a BMW M3 will increase."

Happy 60th Birthday, Israel!

British journalist Melanie Phillips has written a piece far more eloquently than I could about Israel's 60th birthday, which is next week on May 8th.

What strikes me first is the bravery in which she tackles such a difficult issue. Taking to task many of the actors involved in the quagmire in the Middle East. Including, but not limited to, the radical Islamist group Hamas, currently undermining any possibility of peace, the Bush administration, for its promotion of a faux truce serving only to allow the rearmament of Hamas, and the Iranian government, trying to spread the particularly wicked brand of theocracy currently in power there.
